About Nayaneethi Commons

Nayaneethi Commons is the open public policy platform of Nayaneethi Policy Collective (NPoC), a think-do tank in Kochi. It puts everything we learn in public: the data we gather, the tools we build, and what we write and say.

What's here

  • Data & tools: open datasets, interactive tools such as the Kerala Landslide Ledger, and dashboards.
  • Read: articles from Nayadrishti, our bi-weekly bilingual newsletter, plus reports, briefs and the Padayatra comic.
  • Watch & listen: the Nayadrishti podcast and our videos, from YouTube.

New articles, episodes and videos appear here on their own as we publish them.

How we make it

We start from public records: government and KSDMA reports, replies in Parliament and the Assembly, official surveys such as the PLFS, peer-reviewed studies, and news reports where nothing official exists.

  • Every figure has a source. Each row of our data links to the document its number comes from.
  • Conflicts are shown, not hidden. Where sources disagree we use the official or the lower figure, mark the row's confidence, and explain in a note.
  • Gaps are stated. If we haven't found something, we say so rather than reporting it as zero.
  • Checks run on every update. A record with a missing source, a bad date or a location outside its district can't be published.

Open by default

Everything we publish here is under CC BY 4.0: you can copy, share, adapt and build on it for any purpose, including commercially, as long as you credit Nayaneethi Policy Collective. Material from others, such as dashboard sources, keeps its own terms.

Each tool shows its own citation. For the platform as a whole:
