Indian Women in Workplaces

India has one of the lowest rates of participation of women in the workforce. Studies show that as the country is becoming richer, more and more women are exiting the workplace. Economist Shrayana Bhattacharya says this is a case where Indians are purchasing conservative values as they earn more. In this episode, we look at the scenario of women's employment in India, the reasons for reducing labour force participation, and the barriers women face to engage in employment.
